Proj.1 reflection

reflecting back on proj 1 and after presenting it, i feel really good about as everybody liked it and it hit all the major points and of course has a few small problems but that's expected and the problems are just that small and easy to fix. Overall very proud of it.

typography poster pt.4

This typography poster seems to miss the point if there is any. The top is okay but the bottom is odd and all the weight is on top which makes it look like it is floating and the believe me on the side confuses me. this is an example of what not to do.

Another interesting typography piece that has a cool type image but the rest is left to be desired. the craved wooden g is really cool but the rest doesn't match it especially the sliver bits in there. it seems like all the time was spent on the wooden g then they ran out of time. this piece has potential but needs more work.

This is an intriguing type of beer in a glass. The gold in white to represent the beer and foam is nice. The text is fine, there is a few that don't work like that I on the bottom but it most of it is fine. The foam dripping down is nice and the fact it isn't text is good since it isn't that big, if it was bigger it might be a issue. The shotgun at the type is unnecessary.Overall a solid piece.

typography poster

This is apparently for "I stan blue", i don't know what it is but apparently it has something to due with india. First the image is a little small for that canvas and i think it is unnecessary to have it angled slightly. The stan blue part is too close to the type and the city probably should have been made out of type,would have been cooler.Just in my mind a sub par effort.

movie poster text pt.3

This poster for Jurassic park is defiantly a classic, iconic poster with just the logo and the classic line. The type for the logo is simple and yet has that old world feel to it and the tagline underneath is a nice little touch and the higarchy and spacing is fine and its not completely center which is good.

movie poster text pt.2

This poster is for the movie "red" and it is a very simple poster wit little text just the movie name and tagline/date. The movie title text is nice and unique with the image inside and the space in between for the tagline. Though the actor name with that hierarchy is a little weird to me and the fact that the tagline isn't like that. Also the date is just there with no thought into. Nice ideas but a few things hold it back.

this movie poster for the dark knighhas your typical movie placement and text with the logo and the actors and a tagline. Though instead of the actors on top or bottom there above the logo with the tagline on top. the text is readable, even though you could say the tagline is missable or hard to read. Though it is a nice poster.

nice typography

this nice text is for max payne 3 cover. Now there is only the title and the text above it but whats there is nice. Its a unique font, with that little distortion but it's not over done and the rockstar presents on top is nice and is the right size and place and he yellow on the 3 and presents is a nice touch. Overall a solid type.

bad typography

This case of bad typography is from batman:arkham city goty edition. Its a great game that had a great cover but for this goty edition they decided to throw as much ugly text as possible and block the whole cover, the name of the game is over taken and at first glance someone might think the game is called 10 out of 10. Its fine to have all that promo stuff but not in this way.

proj 1 flyer background

the background to my flyer which is a roughed up concrete floor, is still a little blurry,its not bad or anything just something that some people might notice, I have cleaned it up mostly but its still a little blurry and i'm running out of ideas. This looks like a job for Sherlock homeboy.

Things are going well and just need to fix the small things but it is coming together and the colors are nice and the gasmask is really cool and it is clean. Now just to make sure spacing is right and play around with the pic. but overall, i am very happy with how it turned out.makes me happier then darth vader at disneyland.

music flyer pt.15

This flyer is a classic case of some good things and some bad things. The good things are the text is nice with the two different colors and sizes though i would have abbr. the countries there from and the spacing is nice. The script font is unnecessary and isn't used any where else. The date of festival should be bigger or more noticeable, since that is an important piece of info. The image up top needs some work since it kind of doesn't flow with the rest of the piece.

This flyer is a bit of a mess. First, there is no way to tell what the event is actually called and the phrase when you awakes makes no sense and hurts my head and i stop reading it. The text is readable for the most part but some of the text doesn't fit and is spaced weird. Though the leaf guitar is pretty cool but after that it seems like they were like f*** it. This flyer needs togo back to the drawing board.

This another flyer that is alright but nothing that would make you do a double take or say that's nice. The fonts are fine though at the bottom the text gets lost in the bird and background and the images are fine but its not at that next level. I do like how it is separated into two nights and the band in the middle for both does fit once you realize why its in the middle. good but not great flyer.

This flyer is obliviously went for the 60's/70's vibe with the lava lamp type and image and the whole peace love message. I'm alright if some of the text is like that but when all of the type is like that it hurts my eyes. I do like the simplicity and everything seems spaced out nicely its just not awesome its just alright but nothing that makes you go thats cool.

Music flyer pt.11

This interesting music flyer has a nice feel to it and i do like the the color scheme but it seems a bit top heavy as all the info is on top, even the design on the bottom tries to even it out,i feel like more could be done with the bottom half. I like the cone, since it leads to the name and logo though if it was on the bottom it would lead you through the whole thing instead of just half of it.

The music flyer is coming along, just ironing out the ideas. The gas mask filter part is giving me some trouble but I got time, once one thing comes together , the rest will fall into place, also need to see what to use for background, back to the thinking jug.

Another simple music poster, it has all the necessary info and a nice image though i think they could have played with having something at the top because that conductor pointer makes me think hes pointing to something and i guess you could say that the text looks like it is getting flattened but it doesn't bother me that much.

This is a curious music poster, main reason being those light opacity boxes behind the words, they seem a little unnecessary and kind of ruin it for me. Though the background and logo are solid, though the text for the bands could have fit in more. It has good things going for it but it has some issues that are holding it back.

This music poster is a fairly solid and it's not awesome but nothing is really wrong with it expect for a few small things. The colors are nice and the text is readable and has hierarchy and all the important info and the image is fine and fits with the theme though the face the girl is making kind of makes me laugh. Also i think the website should be on the bottom and looks odd at the top and doesn't look like it belongs there. Overall very nice poster, simple and clean.

Music flyer pt.7

This is an intriguing music poster as it has many many colors and the designer seems to be a advocate for arrows. All the different colors dont in my mind go together and its not a sin to have many colors but the color choices seem to not have any rhyme or reason to them. The text is fine though a the headliners could stick out more. A fine poster just needs more thought in the concepts .

gasmask music flyer ideas

been looking around the web for different gas mask designs or what elements to incorporate on the flyer, i'm thinking i will just incorporate the eyes and the filter mechanism at the bottom and have important info in these objects.

been hammering out the the ideas for the music festival proj, refining the gas mask idea and the type I'm using still haven't figured out the background texture/pic, been a little lazy about that but will get a better idea after the thumbnail review then start on illustrator. I think I need a slap from batman to get me going on this background texture.

music flyer pt. 6

This music flyer is a nice and interesting piece and not what you typical see from music posters. It's got some nice textures with the wood and the stained wood kind of look in the background and the text fits though, for the smaller print i wish they made it more visible or use a different font because it does become hard to read. The pic is nice and it has all the info that you need and overall a nice quality piece.

This one is a dozy, classic case of they need a flyer and the deadline is at midnight and its 11:59. The pic could have been alright and then they blurred it for no reason and the random parts of piano keys for railroad tracks and some spots are left bare and unfinished. I'm also not a fan of the font and they didn't incorporate the red anywhere else and it might of helped the text pop out more. Its not like the poster has to be the greateset but its find to do more a simple clean version if you have a tight budget, it will go a long way.

This music poster is more visual focused then type, since the the focus and space is given to the pic, which is a cool pic, not too busy. The scheme of the poster reminds me of the obama hope poster, i think it is the type of Sasquatch that makes me think of it. The band type seems a little small or not the focus. Though everything does flow together.
